Preface

Hello everyone! Today I want to share my skincare journey and insights as someone who has struggled with dry skin since childhood. To be honest, when I first started skincare, I was a complete novice - making mistakes was really painful! But after years of exploration and experimentation, I've finally found what works for me. I hope my experience can help those of you who are also stumbling along your skincare journey.

Skincare isn't actually as complicated as it seems - the key is mastering the right methods. Each season requires different skincare focuses, and I'll share in detail how to adjust your skincare strategy according to seasonal changes to keep your skin in optimal condition year-round.

Skincare Basics

First, I'd like to cover some basic skincare knowledge. Many people think skincare is just about applying various products to your face, but it's actually a very specialized field. It involves knowledge from multiple disciplines including dermatology and cosmetic ingredient science, requiring systematic learning and understanding.

I remember when I first started, I was just an "information collector" - buying whatever beauty bloggers recommended without considering if products suited my skin type. The results were predictable: I not only wasted a lot of money but almost destroyed my skin barrier. Later I gradually realized that the most important aspect of skincare is understanding your skin type and real needs.

As someone with chronically dry skin, my skin lacks both water and oil, and can easily develop dry lines, redness, and flaking if I'm not careful. Therefore, I must focus more on moisturizing and repair, choosing gentle, non-irritating products. Through continuous exploration, I finally found a skincare routine that works for me.

Skincare Product Usage Methods

Winter Strategy

For dry skin, winter is truly an endurance test. I live in the north, where indoor heating makes the air extremely dry in winter. Without proper protection, skin quickly becomes dry and itchy, even developing fine lines and sensitivity.

After years of skincare experience, I've developed a complete winter skincare routine. First is cleansing - you must choose gentle cleansing products during this season. I particularly recommend amino acid cleansers, which are gentle and won't damage the skin barrier. Water temperature is also crucial - I always wash with water slightly above body temperature, as too-hot water severely damages the lipid barrier.

Post-cleansing care is absolutely essential. I use a triple moisturizing method: first toner to replenish water, then serum for deep nourishment, and finally cream to lock in moisture. In winter, I choose thicker creams to ensure sufficient hydration for my skin.

I especially want to remind everyone that you can increase the amount of skincare products used in winter. I often add a few drops of facial oil to my cream, which not only enhances moisturizing effects but also provides extra nutrition. Before bed, I also use sleeping masks to allow my skin deep repair overnight.

Spring Adjustment

Spring is a special season, with temperatures gradually warming and skin conditions changing accordingly. However, many people let their guard down during this season, thinking spring sunlight isn't strong and lowering their skincare standards - this is actually a misconception.

I've learned this lesson the hard way. I remember once during a spring outing, the weather didn't seem very sunny, so I wasn't careful about sun protection. As a result, my face became severely red and developed sensitivity reactions. Since then, I've understood the importance of spring sun protection. Now I diligently apply sunscreen whether it's sunny or cloudy.
